Eastern Army (Japan)

The Eastern Army (Japanese: 東部方面隊) is one of five active Armies of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force headquartered in Nerima, Tokyo. Its responsibility is the defense of the Kantō and the Northern half of the Chūbu region.

• Eastern Army, in Nerima
  • 1st Division, in Nerima, responsible for the defense of Tokyo and the Chiba, Ibaraki, Kanagawa, Saitama, Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures.
  • 12th Brigade (Air Assault), in Shintō, responsible for the defense of Gunma, Nagano, Niigata and Tochigi prefectures.
  • 1st Engineer Brigade, in Koga
  • Eastern Army Combined (Training) Brigade, in Yokosuka
  • Eastern Army Aviation Group, in Kasumigaura
  • Eastern Army Logistic Support, in Nerima
  • Eastern Army Signals, in Nerima
  • Eastern Army Medical Service, in Nerima
  • Eastern Army Military Intelligence Battalion, in Nerima
  • Kantō Logistic Depot, in Kasumigaura
  • 2nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group, in Matsudo (Type 3 Chū-SAM)
